GIRLS SEMI-FINAL
Thailand's Noppawan Lertcheewakaen reached the final of the girls junior Wimbledon tournament yesterday after a fine victory over Belgium's Tamaryn Hendler.
Noppawan, 16, who hails from Chiang Mai, beat her Belgian opponent 7-6 (2), 6-3.
The first set was very tight and went into a tie-break which Noppawan won comfortably.
The third-seeded Thai player took command in the second set as she broke Hendler's serve and went on to take the match.
In the final Noppawan will meet England's Laura Robson who beat Slovakia's Romana Tabakova 6-2, 7-5.
Noppawan is the second Thai girl to reach the junior girl's final, following Tamarine Tanasugarn in 1995.
