CRIME
WASSAYOS NGAMKHAM
Four robberies took place at a petrol station and three convenience stores in Bangkok early yesterday. The robbers made off with about 10,000 baht in cash.
The first incident occurred at a Shell petrol station on Phetchaburi road in Huai Khwang district at 12.05am. A man wearing a red shirt, shorts and a cap arrived on a motorcycle and ordered 50 baht of petrol.
While a female staff member was opening a change drawer, the man threatened her with a gun, punched her shoulder and made off with 4,000 baht.
The second incident took place at a Family Mart on Ram Intra Soi 46/1 in Kannayao district about 3am. A man dressed in black ordered chewing gum and suddenly took away 2,000 baht from the till while pointing his gun at the cashier.
The man fled on his motorcycle.
The third and the fourth robberies happened at two nearby 7-Eleven stores at 4.15am and 4.45am. One robber is thought to have raided both places.
The first store is on Soi Ram Intra 109 in Klong Sam Wa district and the other branch is in a petrol station on Suwinthawong road in Min Buri district.
The robber pretended to buy chewing gum and robbed the cashiers while they were preparing change. He made off with 2,000 baht from each branch.
Deputy chief of Metropolitan Police Division 3 Pol Maj-Gen Pongsant Jiem-on said the same robber might have attacked all three convenience stores. He could also be the same person who robbed two other 7-Eleven branches on Ram Intra road and on Soi Suan Siam 1 road two days earlier. He urged operators to install surveillance cameras both in and outside their shops.
