Thai arrested in Cambodia for spying

A 31-year-old Thai mechanic working for Cambodia Air Traffic Services was arrested in Cambodia on Wednesday for allegedly stealing the flight data of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and itineraries of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Xinhua News Agency reported on Friday.

Kieth Chantharit, the spokesman for the Cambodian police, said the Thai man, who was identified as Sivarak Chotipong, had been charged with spying. the Xnhua report said.

Mr Sivarak was arrested on Wednesday under a warrant issued by the Phnom Penh Court,. He is accused of supplying the information to Thai authorities.

The police spokesman said Mr Sivarak had been taken to court in Phnom Penh. He gave no further details, the  Xinhua report said.

    The government has done that because they know the spying was true. It's obvious.
    1) It makes sense.
    2) More than one person involved. It would be easier to falsely accuse one innocent person than to accuse two. To accuse two, it would mean they have some proof.
    3) Thai government hinted at "other ways" to apprehend Thaksin when they spoke about the rejection to the extradition request.

    Must ring the alarm bells of other Thai nationals working in Cambodia. The Thai government might now consider issueing travel warnings or even advise it's citizens to leave Cambodia the country appears to be getting more hostile towards Thailand by the day this guy is most probably being tortured or coerced into a confession at this very moment.
