It is helpful for learners of both languages August 9, 2005 As a housewife, when I want a chunk of meat to be more tender, I marinate it with some freshly crushed pineapple juice for about 30 minutes. This piece of "local wisdom" never fails me - and the process may be doing more than I thought. Just recently, scientists at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research found that an extract derived from crushed pineapple stems contains at least two molecules that can fight cancer.
