“From a country rich in culture, a city centuries-old, sawasdii and welcome to, live from Bangkok, Thailand, Miss Universe 2005” reads the introduction from the Miss Universe website with the first pop-up backdrop of a gorgeous gold chedi in a magnificent Buddhist temple This is very nice, but what’s wrong to many Thai Buddhists, however, is the footage promoting the pageant with the same backdrop.
