20/03/2010 : Performing artist Pichet Klunchun will leave his usual stage for a brief moment to perform Ganesh in a visual art space for the very first time, alongside the "Prism" art exhibition by Kornkrit Jianpinidnan, at 100 Tonson Gallery on March 25 until April 10. Curated by Thanavi Chotpradit, the presentation is where space emerges from a disciplinary encounter (performing arts and visual arts) and the parallel narratives. And with his photographs and installations, Kornkrit's The House No. 1 transforms the multi-faceted art gallery into a space that is in-between worlds - Thai traditional literature and reality - for Pichet to perform Ganesh; photographs are revived through Pichet's performance in a space created by Kornkrit.

  • Defying description

19/03/2010 : Made up of pictures clipped from old children's encyclopaedias, children's books, comics and old advertisements, as well as modern video game magazines and men's glossies, Sethapong Povatong's collages are a visual assault; surreal scenes which defy description.

    Accidentally Yours

18/03/2010 : 'I Mass You"? Obviously, the tattoo artist who inscribed this sentence meant to say something else. This monk must have had his arm tattooed - an art form that is not appropriate for people in saffron robes - before he entered monkhood. Since tattoos are supposed to last forever, they can also mean permanent embarrassment.

The concert will be performed inside the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre on March 31, at 8pm.

  • No paper no problem, say architects

13/03/2010 : What if there was no more paper in this world? Well, architects don't mind because they can still continue to work on their design projects - even without paper - as seen in the "Architecture Without Paper 2010" at the ASA Centre, Siam Discovery until March 26. The exhibition features 15 art pieces that combine architecture, landscape, art installation and composition. Parts of the current exhibition were also displayed in the Spanish Pavilion at Venice Biennale 2008. "Without Paper" is the result of the architects coping with the challenges of their times. In addition, the current exhibition also features architectural works from other cultures apart from the Spanish and Portuguese styles. Architecture is not just an art form. It links to ideas, designs, perception and the imagination of the people who live in it.

    Spoiled for Choice

11/03/2010 : Hello readers. This week's photo is by Piyapan Dissaneewet, who took a great shot of a set of offerings during the Chinese New Year celebrations last month. It is an ancient tradition for Chinese descendants to worship deities and their late ancestors during this occasion. The offerings comprise various kinds of meat, cooked rice, fruits and desserts.
